Yellow Balloon Films was founded by Andrew Day in 2015 with a simple belief that people tell their best stories when they feel understood. Based in Aberdeenshire, Andrew is a documentary style filmmaker and authentic storyteller who creates films rooted in honesty, humanity and a deep respect for the people he works with.
We love exploring Scotland and the UK to find meaningful stories and shape them into films that feel real and purposeful.

Andrew Day, Founder and Creative Director of Yellow Balloon Films
I’ve never been the loudest person in the room. I don’t rush to fill silence, and I don’t believe creativity needs grand gestures or theatrics. What I do believe in is people: their stories, their quirks and the moments they don’t even realise say everything.
I’m drawn to the small, honest moments that reveal who someone really is. The pauses. The humour. The quiet expressions that appear when the pressure lifts.
Clients often tell me they feel instantly at ease with me, as if they’re chatting with a friend. That comfort is intentional. When people feel safe, they stop performing and start being themselves, and that is when the truth of a story begins to surface.
Every film I make is crafted to connect, to move people and to reveal something true. My work isn’t about documenting life. It’s about capturing the parts of it that stay with you. It is storytelling built on trust, intuition and a calm, human approach.
